All organizations, members of BgMVO were represented by their leaders who delivered lectures on the subject. The journalists were informed on topics concerning the roles in medicines verification of all players in medicines supply chain. Mrs. Iliana Paunova, executive director of BgMVO presented “The medicines verification system – a technical innovation protecting the patients”. All journalists learned about the need of a verification system, the respective legal frame in EU and in Bulgaria, as well as some technical aspects of the verification.  

Mr. Deyan Denev, chairman of BgMVO, executive director of the Association of Research based pharmaceutical manufacturers (ARPhaRM) presented the verification system benefits for patients, pharmacists and manufacturers. He underlined that the system is unified for all EU member states and the obligations regarding Directive 62/EU/2011 and Delegated Regulation (EU) 2016/161 apply to all of them. 

The chairman of Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Union (BPhU) prof. Ilko Getov delivered a speech “Pharmacists – a barrier towards falsified medicines and their active role in the verification process”. During 2019 there will be a smooth transition period to the new system and our pharmacists will have a key role to secure medicines supply continuity for all patients, explained prof. Getov.

“Verification of generic medicines” was presented by D-r Evgeny Tassovsky, executive director of Bulgarian Association of generic medicines (BGPharma). 
“The role of wholesalers and parallel trade developers in the medicines verification process” was the topic presented by Mrs. Olya Vassileva, executive director of Bulgarian Association of pharmaceutical wholesalers (BAPhW) and Mr. Hristofor Ivanov, chairman of the board at Bulgarian Association for parallel trade development (BAPTD). 

The lectures were followed by a lively discussion where fundamental questions and topics given by the media have been clarified.
